TREFA is a family-owned business, founded in the early sixties as a manufacturer of aerators.Our specialty is the development and production of continuous aeration machines and mixers built to customer’s specification. To guarantee the highest quality, all machines are manufactured in-house.

Along with individual machines, we also supply complete production lines for aerated mayonnaise, aerated peanut butter, marshmallow, cakes and bakery products. All these lines have product contact parts manufactured from highly durable 316L stainless steel.

Aeration machines are machines that mix a liquid with a gas to form a foam, and increase the volume or the structure of a product. The advantages of Trefa machines are seen in the uniformity of the product quality and total control in terms of product density and structure.

Applications in the food industry include dairy cream, marshmallow, meringue, cake batters and chocolate. In the non-food industry the range extends through items such as mattresses,  pillows, candles and certain beauty products.

For these applications Trefa has also developed a complete production system, including pre-mixers, buffer tanks, sheeting manifolds, CIP cleaning pumps, and “standalone” CIP cleaning units.

The know-how gained in these applications has been extended to develop and handle projects for complete production lines. An example of this is a full extruded marshmallow line, which we have completed for a number of customers.

A substantial part of our turnover is invested in research and development, which has led to the development of a mixing head with a unique property, the “premixing chamber”.
With our unique “pre-mix chamber” as standard on all our machines, the mixing process is divided into several steps leading to significant reduction of the mixing speed during mixing process. The result of this “pre-mix chamber” is more stable foam and a better product quality.
